In a video message released by ANI, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh has issued a stern warning against those protestors who turn violent and cause damage to public property. In a video address, Mr. Yogi Adityanath stated that property of those indulging in violence and causing damage to public property will be seized to compensate the damage caused.
This comes in the light of violent protests that rocked Lucknow on Thursday. He accused the leaders of Congress and Samajwadi Party of misleading innocent people especially youngsters who resorted to stone pelting and torching of vehicles. He said that CCTV footages are being analysed to hold the miscreants accountable.
He mentioned that there is no place for violence in democracy and requested everyone to read about what the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 says to form an informed opinion and not fall prey to misleading information circulated by opponent parties.
Section 144 has been imposed across UP and the UP police has requested parents to counsel their children to not participate in protests.
