Saudi Arabia has conveyed to India that it is able to understand the approach of India and its actions in Jammu and Kashmir. India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met Saudi Arabia’s crown prince, where the views of Saudi Arabia on Kashmir issue was conveyed to India in a two-hour meeting.
Many sources said that various dimensions of bilateral relations are discussed between Doval and Saudi Crown Prince. India scrapped the special status to Jammu and Kashmir on August 5 and bifurcated the state into two new Union Territories- Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh. Saudi Arabia’s comments arrived despite Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan visit to Saudi Arabia to seek support.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi have developed stronger ties with Saudi Arabia for the past few years and both countries are having better security and intelligence cooperation. The visit is also expected to make the bond stronger between the two countries and identify specific areas of cooperation at a time when Saudi Arabia is looking to widen its economy in accordance with the 2030 vision of crown prince. Saudi also made an announcement that it will make investments worth nearly USD 100 billion in India.
There was also a meeting between National Security Advisor his Saudi counterpart Musaid Al Alban, the chairperson of Council of Political and Security Affairs of Saudi Arabia, where the issues of national and regional security are discussed in depth.
