According to the expenditure report filed by DMK to the poll body, it had provided Rs 10 crore to the CPI(M) and Rs 15 crore to CPI. The money to CPI(M) was transferred in three installments on April 5, 8 and 9 and CPI received its money in two installments but CPI(M) in its affidavit on September 13th claimed that its expenditure was just Rs 7.2 crore and CPI still haven’t submitted its expenditure report. Thus, the allegations have got raised on the left parties that communists are hiding their poll expenditures.
Replying this allegation, CPIM said all the donations and funds the party received during the Lok Sabha elections are properly recorded in their statements to the election commission of India dismissed reports of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) donating Rs 25 crore to both the communist parties.
In a statement, the CPM said, “Reports have appeared in a section of the media regarding election funding and expenditure of the CPM. This is nothing but disinformation designed to discredit the party.”
CPIM in its official statement said,
“Contrary to the allegation, all donations and funds received during the period of the Lok Sabha elections have been reflected in the statement of election accounts submitted to the Election Commission of India. This includes donations and contributions received from all over the country including Tamil Nadu. Nothing is hidden as falsely alleged”
There is no such clarification from CPI and no response from DMK side. This also raises a question whether a spat is getting created between left parties and DMK as a consequence of this issue.
