After revoking the special status to the former state of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcating the state into two union territories within just three months of taking up the post of Home Minister, Amit Shah had fixed the Naxal issue as his next target.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is conducting an inter-state meeting on security issues with the chief ministers of states that were affected Left Wing Extremism (LWE) and naxals. This meeting was also attended by Minister of State (MoS) Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy and Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla.
Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states, Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh and Raghubar Das of Jharkand are also present at the meeting along with BJP’s NDA partner Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Chief Ministers of Congress party, Kamal Nath of Madhya Pradesh and Bhupesh Baghel of Chattisgarh also attended the event. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also was present.
According to media reports, Shah is likely to discuss about his views and plans on fighting the Naxalite problem in the naxal affected areas. Officials from security agencies such as Border Security Force (BSF), National Investigation Agency (NIA), Sashastra Seema Bal(SSB) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were also present in the event headed by the Home Minister Amit Shah.
